Establishment and Background

The Teacher Training Centre (TCTVH), Mohan Road, Lucknow was established in the year 2006 jointly by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Uttar Pradesh and the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun.

For the operation of the Training Centre, a 31-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was executed, and after mutual consent of both parties, the Training Centre started functioning as per the provisions of the MoU.

Objectives

The objectives of establishing the Training Centre are:

  • To train human resources in Uttar Pradesh in the field of special education related to visual impairment.
  • To develop maximum skilled manpower in the field of rehabilitation of persons with visual disabilities.
  • To provide employment opportunities after training to all sections of society at minimum training fees.
  • To reduce the shortage of trained professionals in the field of educational rehabilitation at the state level.

Mode of Operation

The Training Centre conducts a two-year full-time D.Ed. (Special Education – Visual Impairment) course as per the standards prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi, based on the MoU between the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow) and the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities, Dehradun.
